Young Writers Camps (in partnership with the California Writing Project) Young Writers Programs, or camps, as they are frequently called, serve students of all age groups. In a supportive and non-threatening setting, students become better, more confident writers as they develop specific writing, revising, and editing tools that help them sharpen their thinking and improve their writing. Students publish their writing in anthologies, on web sites, as digital stories, and on blogs. Young Writers Camps are scheduled throughout the school year and summer–during intersession or “off-track” times for students on year-round calendars; over a series of Saturdays for high school students who want to learn to write state graduation exams, university admission or placement tests, and college and scholarship application essays; or as a part of after-school programs. Often young writers programs are scheduled in complement with family writing workshops. If you, as a parent, want your children to participate in a Young Writers’ Program, check out the list below or contact the local writing project closest to you. The project’s website will give you all the program and contact information you need.
