Family Writing Workshops for children, their parents, guardians, grandparents, teachers, and paraprofessionals

Because parents and guardians are their children’s first teachers, and families are their life-long support, California Writes! collaborates with schools, community organizations, Migrant Education, and Head Start to strengthen the literacy and learning connections between home and school.

Research shows that spending even a few minutes to read, write, and talk with children helps them develop the language and academic skills they need for future success.
