Writing matters for success in the community, in school, in college, and in the workplace. Parents and guardians matter as their children learn to write, as they develop a real love for words and writing, and as they begin to understand the power of writing well, in and out of school. Even before school begins, the first and most important lessons children learn that help them become good writers and good students are learned in the home from parents, their first writing teachers.
